Veterans
Michael B. Younan
served in the Air Force for eight years, and
understands the needs of today's veterans. From
long-term care to financial and emotional-health
needs, our veterans must be honored during and
after their service to our country, including
post-active duty military members as well as
national guardsmen and reservists. Michael B.
Younan supports full funding for veterans' needs
and offers the following plan to improve
veterans' care in the ninth district.
Expansion of
Veteran's Health Services Centers
In addition to psychiatric care, physical
therapy and rehabilitation services should be
available in the heart of the ninth district to
provide easy access for all veterans. Michael B.
Younan will also work towards the construction
of a new Veteran's Health Services Center in the
western part of the ninth district (Des Plaines
or Mount Prospect) so that all local veterans
can receive a high level of care regardless of
their location in the district.
Mandating
Quality Care for our Veterans
New and expanded health care facilities are a
first step towards honoring our nation's
veterans, but the primary care providers
staffing our veterans' services facilities must
be equipped to serve in the twenty-first
century. Michael B. Younan will advocate for
full and mandatory Veterans' Administration
funding to ensure that all facilities are
staffed with competent, caring personnel to care
for veterans' needs.
Michael B. Younan understands the challenges
that veterans face when returning from conflict
and will define "Quality Care" as extending
beyond immediate physical needs. As a former
serviceman, Michael B. Younan is uniquely
positioned to advocate for a "G.I. Bill for the
21st Century," to include full funding of
veterans' pensions as well as outreach programs
for at-risk and homeless veterans. The
sacrifices of veterans' families cannot be
ignored, and Michael B. Younan will fight for
economic benefits such as tax breaks for the
families of our nation's heroes. America's War
on Terror has lowered the threat of terrorism
worldwide, and we must honor the commitments of
our returning servicemen by expanding
readjustment services and offering counseling
for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and other
emotional disorders incurred during our
veterans' service to our nation. |
